The best Jungle Lodge in Belize is located about 35 minutes away from San Ignacio. To get there, you would be driving on an off-road path. If you like being in nature, this lodge would be a perfect place for you to stay. It is off the grid, in a jungle, and use energy saving methods to keep the place running. I loved the fact that their pool did not have any chlorine nor other additives. The water flows from a nearby spring, so it constantly has fresh water running through it. This eliminates the need for cleaning agents.
The Adventurous Up-Hill Hike at Black Rock Lodge in Belize
I had the opportunity to go on one of their hikes up a mountain. I was shocked when I found out I was 960ft in the air. The hike was tough for me. However, with the expert help of my guide, I was able to safely make it to the top. The view at the top of the mountain was extremely rewarding and made the long and adventurous climb worth it. Black Rock also offers a birding tour that allows you to spot amazing species of birds in the forest. Some of the birds you can see at Black Rock are Euphonias, Hummingbirds, Honey Creepers, and all three species of Hawk Eagles. You can also see all three species of Toucans. There are not many places in Belize that has all three species in one location.
River Tubing at Black Rock Lodge
Another fun activity that Black Rock Lodge also has is river tubing. Once you are a strong swimmer, I highly encourage you to try it. They have a fun challenge where if you can make it over the mini waterfall that is in front of their lodge, without flipping over in your tube, then you get a free beer. My group was not successful in beating this challenge, but if you ever decide to try it and you beat this challenge, please let me know in the comments. I would love to virtually shake your hand for succeeding at such a difficult challenge.
Howler Monkeys!!
A treat for me was getting to see and hear Howler Monkeys in the wild, right across from the lodge. Not everyone is lucky enough to see the howler monkeys, but they decided to grace us with their presence during my second day at the lodge. The staff kept telling us how lucky we were to have that experience. Howler Monkeys are the largest type of monkeys found in Belize. They are also the loudest, with their howling being able to be heard from about 3 miles away. Howler monkeys make loud howls to help protect their territories.

The staff at Black Rock Lodge will make you feel right at home. All of them were extremely friendly and immensely helpful. Everyone in my group did not want to leave. The one-year-old infant that was traveling with me even said bye for the first time while we were leaving the lodge. I guess she had to make sure the staff knew she enjoyed her stay as well.
