I absolutely love drinking wine, in San Ignacio! I am nowhere near being a wine expert, so I can’t offer much advice on what wines to try. However, what I can do, is point you to the places that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed drinking wine at, and places that actually have people who have a lot of knowledge on the wine that they sell.
1. Recino’s Winehouse
Recino’s Winehouse is number one on my list, because this is my absolute favorite place for drinking wine in San Ignacio. It is located at #57 Benque Viejo Rd, San Ignacio, Belize
- They have the best wine I have ever tasted
- Possess a vast choice of wines to suit the taste of all wine lovers
- They have a knowledgeable staff who can help you choose the best wine suited to your liking
- Their staff is very friendly and professional
- There is AC inside the establishment
- Good music is always playing
- AMAZING food and dessert prepared by an extremely talented chef
- There is a decent sized parking lot beside the establishment (good parking is always a plus)
I have celebrated many different occasions in my life at the Winehouse, and they’ve made each one of them special and memorable. I have received a free glass of champagne, because it was my birthday, and a free slice of cheesecake, because it was my friend’s birthday. They even allowed my friend and I to choose the kind of music that they play, in the Winehouse, on several occasions. The food is always delicious, so I’ve never been disappointed by anything they have served me as yet.
Whenever any of my friends or family members visit me in San Ignacio, I always take them to the Winehouse. It is a guaranteed way to ensure that they enjoy themselves, the environment, and the food and refreshments. If there is a person in your group that does not drink wine, they also serve whiskey and champagne. For those people who do not consume alcohol beverages, there is bottled water, and a very delicious type of soda that has several unique flavors that you can choose from. When my friend was pregnant, we still frequented the Winehouse, she simply ordered the non-alcoholic beverages, while I ordered my usual glass of wine.
2. Wine Smith Limited
The Wine Smith Limited is a fairly new, family owned, wine spot, in San Ignacio. It is located on #73 Bullet Tree Rd, San Ignacio Cayo. I have not had the opportunity, as yet, to try many different kinds of wine that they sell. However, I did love the one I’ve tried so far (pictured below).
They possess a very friendly environment, and engaged my friend and I in an interesting conversation for the duration of our visit. They kindly responded to all of the questions that we had, and also helped us to choose the wine that we would possibly love the best, based on the requirements we mentioned to them. Whenever I visit a new place that sells wine, I always ask them for a sweet white wine (emphasis on the sweet). I do not like dry wine. I can handle semi-dry wine, if it is the only option available, but it really is not my favorite type of wine to drink.
Currently, the Wine Smith, does not sell food, but that is in their plans for the future. It is a very small location, so not many people can fit inside, unlike the Winehouse, which is also small but way more people can fit inside the building. All of the workers at the Wine Smith are family members, and they plan on keeping it a family owned and operated business for as long as possible. Even though they recently opened, they have already been getting the attention of a lot of locals. I must say that their wine is absolutely delicious, and they will definitely see me again, especially when they start serving food. (Sweet white wine and good food is the way to my heart😁) You should check them out if you’re planning a night out for drinking wine in San Ignacio.
3. Crave House Of Flavour
The last place, in San Ignacio, that I am going to list is Crave restaurant. They are located on #24West Street, San Ignacio. This is not an actual wine drinking spot, however, I am still listing them because of one particular wine drink that they sell. Crave House of Flavour has the best sangria I have ever tasted. It is so delicious, I can not even explain why. However, my friend and I have tried many different sangrias in Belize, and we’ve had some pretty good ones, but none of them compare to the sangria at Crave restaurant.
I do not only visit this restaurant for their Sangria, however. The food that they serve is beyond delicious. I have also never been disappointed by anything I’ve tasted at this restaurant before. It is a very small restaurant and tends to get full to capacity very quickly due to the popularity that they have. I would suggest that you call ahead of time to make a reservation, and guarantee your spot in the restaurant. Their desserts are also uniquely plated and very delicious.
A Fun Way to Consume Wine is With Wine Popsicles!
I came across a cool article on Forbes that I absolutely must share with you. I’ve also seen this done in a video on Facebook, from a page called ‘The Tipsy Bartender’. I’ve always thought it was a fun and cool idea. Wine popsicles can also help you to stay cool on those hot days in Belize. The article on Forbes includes four different recipes for wine popsicles that you can try out. I will include my favorite one below, but you should check out their site to see the other recipes.
