The best resorts and lodges to stay in Belize might differ depending on who you ask. However, I have visited many different hotels, resorts, and lodges in Belize. I have compiled the following list based on the comfort, cleanliness, staff friendliness, and ambience of the different places that I have visited. These resorts and lodges are not budget friendly options. However, they are all worth every penny spent on staying there.

1. Black Rock Lodge

The best jungle lodge that I have visited so far is Black Rock Lodge. This lodge is located in the Cayo District of Belize and it is situated approximately 30minutes away from San Ignacio Town. This makes it a very quiet lodge to stay at. The only noise you might hear are the howler monkeys that are nearby. If you are lucky, you might even be able to spot them in the trees.

River going to Hiking adventure at Black Rock

Black Rock Lodge has some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. They pride themselves in being as eco-friendly as possible. They use a solar system to provide electricity to the lodge, and their water source is provided by a fresh spring that is located near the resort. Their pool is also spring water. This makes it more refreshing than other pools that depend on bleach and other chemical agents.

I did not want to leave on the day of my check-out. They have two main hiking trails that allows you to have a beautiful view of the entire resort and river that flows near it. You can also go river tubing at this lodge. I wrote a more in-depth post about my visit at this resort. Feel free to check out my post about Black Rock Lodge at this link.

2. Alaia Belize

The fanciest and most intricately designed and decorated resort in Belize is Alaia, which is located on the beautiful island of San Pedro. Alaia has a lot of friendly and high spirited staff members. Each night that I was there had some sort of pool party happening, and a DJ playing music by the pool. They sometimes also have a piano artist playing music and local artists performing.

Alaia has three different pools that you can take a swim in. This resort attracts a lot of interesting people from all around the world. I met very nice people every day, and even made long-lasting friendships with some of them. This is a perfect place to relax, take in the beautiful surroundings, and relish in the great service that they provide.

Alaia is a little pricey, however, it is worth the cost, because they put a lot of effort into ensuring the place looks amazing, feels comfortable, and has well trained staff that treat you like royalty.

3. Laru Beya Resort

Laru Beya is a beautiful resort located in the southern part of Belize in Placencia. This was yet another place that had very friendly staff who catered to our every need. I have been here with family and friends and had an amazing time during both trips.

They have a freshwater infinity pool and several equipment to aid in ensuring their guests have a good time. They have bikes, sailboats, golf carts, kayaks, and several activities that can be booked at the resort. The restaurant served delicious food, the rooms were very clean, and the property is very beautiful. It is properly maintained and located in front of a beautiful beach. 4. Ka’ana Resort

Tasha Lamb at Ka'ana Resort

After winning employee of the year at my job, I was awarded a free night stay for two at Ka’ana Resort. I was very excited because I’ve always wanted to visit Ka’ana to see why so many people speak so highly of the resort. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed. Ka’ana is beautifully decorated with a lot of plants and the room I stayed in even had an outdoor shower and bathtub.

The staff was very friendly and checked on us in the late evening to see if we needed any additional services. A local artist was at the restaurant playing his guitar, and there are several nights when Ka’ana has different events at their resort that the guests can enjoy. There was a karaoke event occurring on the day that I went there.

5. Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge

Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge was a very fun and exciting experience for me. A group of friends and I went there to celebrate my sister’s and my birthday because we were both born in January, just days apart. Sleeping Giant has cute ducks running free around the property. The room we were in had a small pond in the front of it that had a duck swimming in it. The food was absolutely delicious; I made another trip to this lodge just to taste their food and dessert again.

We went hiking on a 45 minute trail that led us to a point where we could clearly see the mountain that is in the shape of a sleeping giant. It was an amazing view. They also have walking trails that you can go on around their property. The highlight of my trip, besides the amazing food, was the hiking trail that we went on. It was not too difficult, and it felt very rewarding. Make sure you take your water bottle and shoes that have a good grip to the bottom.
