Explore Belize to find a very beautiful place with many wonderful attractions and people. Whenever you are visiting somewhere new, it can sometimes be overwhelming to choose the best places to stay and the best things to do. It can also be stressful to figure out what mode of transportation you will use on your trip, and what are the different places you can visit to find good food and drinks. I hope this post can help you to make some of those tough decisions. As always, feel free to contact me if you would like some help with deciding.

1. Determine How Much Money You Would Like To Spend When you Explore Belize

One of the most important things for any trip is the budget. You always need to know how much you are able to spend on food, accommodation, entertainment, transportation, etc. Belize is not too expensive. There are places to stay and things to do that can fit any budget that you would have.

Try not to overspend while you are here, if you are on a tight budget. Always remember that there are cheaper alternatives to everything. Of course, the more money you have to spend, the better and more comfortable your experience would be. However, I have personally had MANY adventures in Belize that I thoroughly enjoyed and did not spend much money doing them. Send me a message if you would like me to give you personal recommendations on places you can stay and things you can do in Belize that would fit your budget. I can even help you to get discounts at different places.

2. Choose the Best Time of the Year Explore Belize

The best time to visit and explore Belize will differ from person to person. Due to this, I will list the pros and cons of the different months. That should help you find the time to visit that will best suit you.

Slow Season in Belize (May to October)

Alaia Resort in Belize

Many people love traveling to Belize during the slow season due to experiencing more of a local-vibe, rather than a touristy environment. Less people will be at the restaurants, hotels and on the tours that you do during this time.

There will also be many discounts that you can take advantage of during this time, because the hotels and tour operators will be trying to increase their sales.

Speaking about discounts, feel free to use my discount code TLTMAYA5 when booking tours at Mayawalk Tours.

A down-side to visiting Belize during the slow season is due to this also being the peak of the hurricane season. This means more rain, so certain activities might be closed when you try to do them due to flooding.

A note for solo-travelers: Due to the low amount of tourists in the country at the time, you might also not be able to do certain activities if you don’t have a travel partner. This is because most activities need a minimum of two people. It being a slow time results in certain tours not operating every day because of not having enough people to send it out.

High Season in Belize (November to April)

This is a time that the country of Belize is bustling with tourists. The more popular activities might be sold out, making it harder for you to book a tour if you make your arrangements last minute. However, you can always secure your spot by booking advance. This is also a better time for solo travelers to book their tours as well, because it is almost always guaranteed that they will be able to join a tour that is happening.

If you love to party and meet new people, this is one of the best times to visit. There will be many activities occurring at the different clubs, restaurants and hotels. Some of these activities include drumming and dancing on the streets (if you are in San Ignacio, this happens a lot on Burns Ave).

Also, the weather in Belize is usually very good during this time. Many people travel to Belize during the high season in order to get away from the extremely cold weather in their countries.

Booking directly before or after high season allows you to take advantage of many discounts that do not exist during the rest of the year. This is due to hotels and tour companies trying to gather more sales during the slow season. The large decrease in sales, makes it harder for these businesses to operate without receiving a steady amount of sales. In order to help attract more customers, they would announce discounts and promotions.

Don’t forget to use my discount code TLTMARIPOSA when booking your stay at Mariposa Jungle Lodge. You will receive a 5% discount on your stay by using this code.

This is also typically a time when less tourists are in the country, so you won’t experience over-crowded surroundings like you would during high season.

Activities are considered popular for a reason. This is usually because people constantly have an AMAZING time while doing them. Some of the most popular activities to do in Belize based on my research and personal experience, are the ATM Cave, Snorkeling and Diving, Tikal Mayan Ruins, Caracol Ruins, and Cave Tubing. You can receive a 5% discount on these tours if you book with Mayawalk Tours in San Ignacio by using the code TLTMAYA5. They are the most established tour company in the Cayo District of Belize. I can guarantee you will fully enjoy your experience with them.

I always try to do some popular activities that most people rave about. This tends to guarantee that I won’t be disappointed.

Another thing that I love to find and do are underrated experiences! Some of the activities that I have found in Belize are the Mayan and Mennonite Cultural Tour, Barton Creek Cave Canoeing, Birding, and the Crystal Cave (this one is only for the bravest of hearts).

I have a lot of fun doing these different activities. Some of the best food I have ever tasted was during the Cultural Tour. Visit Mayawalk Tours to book these activities and use my code TLTMAYA5 to receive a 5% discount.

5. Take Lots of Pictures and Videos!!!

And of course, last but definitely not least, take lots of pictures and videos. One thing I regretted about some of the trips I have been on was not taking enough pictures and videos. This helps you to remember your trip with a more vivid image. It also allows you to share your trip with others. It makes no sense to explore Belize and not have anything to show for it afterwards. However, learn to balance living in the moment, and capturing the moment on camera. Try not to be overly obsessed with getting the best shots. This would let you miss out on the amazing experiences you are having.
